The Parliament (People's Assembly) of Bulgaria approved a resolution in which the Holodomor of 1932-1933 is recognized as a genocide of the Ukrainian people.
This is reported by the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency.
134 deputies voted for the adoption of the document. 26 parliamentarians from the pro-Russian party "Vazrazhdane" (Renaissance) spoke against. At the same time, a number of deputies from the Bulgarian Socialist Party did not participate in the vote.
The resolution states that any denial, justification or belittling of the genocide is an insult to the memory of the millions of people who died as a result of the Holodomor, and the fourth Saturday of November has been declared the day of remembrance for the victims of the Holodomor.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, thanked the Parliament of Bulgaria for recognizing the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide against the Ukrainian people.
