Transparency can lead to peace

The major challenge is how to make East-Ukraine more peaceful, justice and inclusive, especially for those most at risk of violence, injustice and exclusion and how to embark on a solid pathway to sustainable development.

Democracy only thrives where there is peace and transparency.  Democracy also ensures fair administration of Justice in accordance with the rule of Law and genuinely building inclusive institutions that would provide the people with a voice in the decision-making processes that affect them.

Only good democratic governance can provide the appropriate framework for meeting this challenge on a sustainable basis.  A hostility free, prosperous, stable and democratic society where people and     institutions in all spheres of society act with integrity, peace and transparency.

Transparency is about shedding light on rules, plans, processes and actions. It is knowing why, how, what, and how much. Transparency ensures that public officials, civil servants, managers, board members and businesspeople act visibly and understandably, and report on their activities. And it means that the general public can hold them to account. It is the surest way of guarding against corruption, and helps increase trust in the people and institutions on which our futures depend.

Together we have to fight corruption and bribery, improve the quality of life, and encourage civil society to take measures towards transparency and accountability including new sectors such as renewable energy and the protection of digital rights.

It focuses on working with young people in order to change their attitudes and values toward corruption. Often young people in Ukraine grow up thinking  corruption is the only way to make it into professional life.

All these thematic areas remain critical ingredients for good governance and sustainable development.
